[Magazine] AERA December 2022 Issue Cover Hanyu Yuzuru
Yuzuru Hanyu appears on the cover and in the gravure!
Captivating photos taken by Mika Ninagawa offer a different charm than on the ice
Yuzuru Hanyu will appear on the cover of the December 12 issue of AERA for the second time this year, in response to the huge response to the AERA special edition of “Yuzuru Hanyu: The Driving Force Behind His Breakthrough” released in October. The cover photo was taken by the magazine’s cover photographer, Mika Ninagawa. The studio photography, which is different from that on the ice, captures Hanyu in a new and fascinating way.
Yuzuru Hanyu’s collaboration with AERA has received a great response. In this issue, we present a cover and gravure featuring never-before-seen shots of Yuzuru Hanyu taken by Mika Ninagawa. The cover is bathed in light and has a divine look that draws you in with the power of its eyes. The photogravure also features a graceful figure in a different outfit, as well as some memorable “words” from a recent interview. The range of expression is also astonishing, with various facial expressions changing as the costumes and the atmosphere of the shoot change. Please take a look at the cover and gravure, which capture a new and different side of Hanyu’s appeal from his on the ice.
Special Feature: “The Power of Words” Moves Your Life
Many people may feel that it is difficult to convey their thoughts and feelings through words, and while it has become easier to connect with others through social networking services, there is also a sense of frustration at not being able to convey one’s true intentions. We asked comedian Hikaru Ota, freelance announcer Mika Horii, and Choshi Dentetsu President Katsunori Takemoto about their thoughts on words. Mr. Ota says, “No matter how many words you string together, you will never be able to convey everything,” and for this reason he talks about the “dilemma of words,” which is to keep trying hard to convey the message with words. Mr. Horii, a master reader, talks about “pauses. He also says that life is expressed in the spaces between words. In addition, there is an article interviewing an expert on the difficulties of written words and how to convey one’s feelings in the age of social networking.
